Our friends over at FI Space just wrote a little something about one of the previous posts here about us switching over to blip.tv for video hosting. Be sure to check it out!

blip.tv

I just created a blip.tv account. You may ask why did I do that, all our videos are already on youtube…
- The youtube account is my personal account (thus the username = jeffreysimms)
- Youtube has crappy picture quality (sometimes good though…)
- Creating a new account with Blip.tv with the username = karenkids = better branding
- Blip.tvĀ has a neat video player, much better than youtube I think
- Blip.tv offers the owner of the video advertising
- Blip.tv advertising = Money for Karen’s Kids = Funding for cancer research and advocacy
Blip.tv has me sold, even if it’s $.18 – that’s money in the bank for the American Cancer Society. Some of the big names in video blogging use blip.tv, if it’s good enough for them, then why not Karen’s Kids?
Relay ‘07 Recap
May 20, 2007
The Shiawassee County Relay For Life 2007 has come to a close! Things overall went fairly smooth and good. So far, the running total for the Relay is $134,000 and money is still coming in until August 31. Last year over $12,000 came in after Relay was over, I’m hoping for similar or better results! As a team we were just under our goal of $5,000 – which is totally okay because we worked out butts off this year! We also have money coming in from a fund raiser put on by a local elementary school, I’m excited to see the ending numbers though!
I updated my twitter pretty much every hour or at least attempted to. I hope people got a better idea of what we were doing at Relay from this and hopefully inspires others to do this as well for their upcoming relays.
I took around 1.5gigs of pictures and video during the 24 hours! That was pretty shocking to me! I can’t wait to sit down and begin to create something sweet!. I’ll post whatever I create in the coming weeks in the VIDEO SECTION on the forum, as well as Karen’s Kids personal blog (www.karenskids.wordpress.com).
Back to Relay… There were many new first year teams participating, which is great to see. We also grew to have the most teams every this year! Our team was also featured in the Argus-Press Newspaper (not sure how long the link will be active…)
A lot of silliness happened at our campsite as you can see if you check out our pictures on flickr. Our campsite was known for the flamingos all around and the lively energy from passionate team members.
So, I’m (again) leaving out so many things that happened, but you can fill in the gaps by visiting my twitter page and flickr page!

Thanks to KinnicChick and TrishSnyder for all the comments on twitter and the forums during our relay, my team really enjoyed to hear that others hundreds of miles away were thinking about us and interested in what we were doing! Also thanks to all our sponsors: Mancino’s Pizza & Grinders, QD Scrubs, Central Elementary School, Phi Sigma Sigma Theta-Iota Chapter, University of Michigan-Flint Radiation Therapy Student Organization, Sigma Alpha Epsilon Michigan Delta-Omega Chapter, and HostXM Web Hosting.

Relay ‘07 Success!
May 20, 2007
The first batch (=150) of Relay For Life 2007 photos are up on our flickr page! The next batch will be up tomorrow after I charge my camera and upload. I guess 1.5 gigs of photos and video uses a lot of battery, who would’ve thought?
Oh yeah, I really said 1.5 gigs of Karen’s Kids goodness from Relay 2007! So much is about to happen in the coming weeks with slideshows, video editing & movies, DVDs, and complete crazyness!
Thank you SO MUCH to Keri and Trish for all the twitter love during Relay, it was great to have that conversation going!
I have much more to say and talk about, but I’m exhausted because of the lack of sleep (< 6 in the past 48hrs). A more detailed blog will be coming tomorrow after I get some much need R&R.
Relay is HERE!
May 18, 2007
The campsite is all set-up! It’s only 1:00 pm and relay hasn’t even started, but it’s been a long day already.
If you’re in the area or have nothing to do tonight or tomorrow, come out and walk a few laps! The relay is located at:
Shiawassee County Fairgrounds
2900 Hibbard Rd
Corunna, MI 48817
Check for updates the next 24 hours on my twitter page! I just set up on cell phone (hopefully I can charge it sometime at relay…) to work with twitter updating, yay!
Check out our website and flickr to see what we’ve done these past weeks and months to get ready for relay today!
